A

Activity
Represents the work that a company performs in a Business Process. It can be executed online, offline or automatically.

Artifact
A graphical element that provides additional information about a process but does not affect the process flow.

Annotation
A written description added to a BPMN diagram in order to offer additional information.

Association
A graphical connector used to link Artifacts with other flow objects. It is shown as a dotted line with an arrowhead to represent the direction of the flow.

BPMN
Standard for business process modeling and execution developed and described by Object Management Group.

Business Analyst
The specialist who designs process models.

Business Process
A defined set of business activities aimed at archiving a business objective.

Business Process Automation
Steps aimed at converting a process diagram into an executable process.

Business Process Management
A practice that combines modeling, automation, execution, control and optimization of business activity aimed at certain business goals.

BPM System
Technology that supports the activity of BPM.

Collapsed Sub-Process
A Sub-Process with hidden flow details.

Condition
A question asked at a certain point in a process, an expression that specifies which path the process flow should take.

Connector
A graphical element that links the elements of the workflow.

Document Management
Uploading, storing, generating and managing documents and other files.

ELMA BPM
A business process and performance management platform comprising ECM and KPI applications.

ELMA CRM
A CRM application designed to manage customer data and automate sales, marketing and customer support. Forms part of ELMA product family.

ELMA Store
An on-line store of business processes and BPM applications.

ELMA Projects+
A project management application that forms part of ELMA product family.

ELMA Web Portal
Web portal of ELMA BPM, where users can interact, work on tasks and manage business processes.

End Event
An event that shows where a certain path in a process ends. It has no outgoing Sequence Flows.

Event
An Event is something that happens within a process. The main Event types are: start, end, message, signal and error.

Exception
An event in the course of a process that causes a diversion from the normal Flow of the process.

Exclusive Gateway
A Gateway that waits for one input. If this input is true, the gate lets it through. Only one output is activated and it depends on the condition defined by the Gateway.

Expanded Sub-Process
A Sub-Process with all the details shown within its limits.

Flow
The overall progression of how a process should be performed.

Flow Object
A graphical object that can be connected to a Sequence Flow. Events, Activities and Gateways are Flow Objects of a process.

Form Builder
Design tool in ELMA BPM for creating and customizing forms that are used in ELMA Web Portal or mobile applications.

Gateway
A branching point in a process that controls the process flow.

Human Task
A task that requires participation of a human.

I

Inclusive Gateway
A Gateway that waits for all the incoming inputs. The process continues after all the valid inputs are received.

Intermediate Event
An event that occurs after a process has started and before it has ended.

Key Performance Indicator
A type of performance measurement, a metric used to evaluate the success of a company.

Looping
Repeated execution of a task or activity until a certain condition is met or until a specified number of loops is completed.

Message
An object that stands for the content of communication between two processes.

Message Flow
A Сonnector drawn as a dashed line that shows the flow of messages between two processes.

Organizational Structure
A hierarchical arrangement of an organization.

Parallel Gateway
A Gateway that waits for all the inputs before allowing the process to continue. If there are multiple outputs, all of them will be activated simultaneously.

Parent Process
A process that holds a Sub-Process within its boundaries.

Pool
A graphical element containing a single process.

Process
A sequence of activities performed manually or automatically in order to carry out work and archive an objective.

Process Diagram
A graphical representation of one or more processes.

Process Instance
A single execution of a business process, which includes data, actions and decisions taken in the course of the process.

Process Model
A graphical representation of a process, which includes the code necessary to execute the process.

Report
Means of showing specific information in a clearly structured format. ELMA BPM allows a user to make custom reports of any type.

Sequence Flow
Shows the order in which activities are performed in a process.

Script task
A task that executes a script when it is reached in the process.

Start Event
An Event that triggers a process to start.

Sub-Process
A process that is included within another process. It can be modified without changing the Parent Process.

Swimlane
A subdivision of a Pool that is used to organize process activities. It can be either vertical or horizontal.

Task
An activity within a process, usually executed by the end-user, application or both.

Timer
A mechanism that is used to start o suspend a process or an activity at a certain time.

Trigger
An Event that starts a Business Process Instance.

VoIP Integration
An ELMA CRM feature that allows to make and receive calls over Internet Protocol.

Workflow
A progression of steps to move information or material from one activity to another.

X

XOR Gateway
The same as Exclusive Gateway
